Occasional silliness of that article aside, I think it's very interesting that we (who is the "we?") like (and what does that mean? Is our liking them exhausted by our finding them funny?) these things (lolcats & memes generally): what is missing in someone who fails to find them funny? or otherwise interesting? What feature of us allows us to respond to them the way we do?
I also think it's interesting, but this article has a serious fail in its explanation. Wasn't DKaye supposed to write an article about lolcats and God? Where is that, DKaye?
