The downside of the absent-minded professor trope
I guess things are back to normal now and I can return to my epic but most likely fruitless quest to get my last letter of recommendation turned in.

Mine was turned in promptly, after months of chasing, only after I told the professor that admissions committees were asking for it to be sent ASAP (which was true).
