Analogies
I just finished up a long overdue paper, and was getting ready to start in on another one when I opened the draft and discovered to my great surprise that I had already written 10 pages of it. I felt just like when I find unexpected change under the couch cushions, except like $200 worth of change.

Mrs. S-I: I'd consider $20/page to be a bargain for your writing, but no doubt I would not enjoy your term papers as much as stories of your cat. And, of course, in this instance you were really thinking of paying yourself.
That is fantastic. I'm hoping the same happens when I open my dissertation doc today at the library...
I found $6000 extra in my checking account once. And it was really mine, not a mistake. I think this means that I can never be that pleasantly surprised again. However, I would trade that for discovering that I had written several more (good) articles than I thought I had.
